Who to Apply Any graduate or undergraduate student from any school
The Program This program sponsored by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and
Technology (MEXT) aims at providing opportunities for Graduate /Undergraduate Students to strengthen
the holistic capacities as humans, researchers, and/or social entrepreneurs, by learning
natural/social/human linkages through the fieldwork and collaborative works in Yakushima and the
UNESCO Chair WENDI professors from different graduate schools in Kyoto University. Major
characteristics of the Program are:
1. The Program is designed for the students to the holistic capacities to engage in implementing
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for better future, well-being, and resilient society.
2. Students who are interested in working on SDGs with different people collaboratively are especially
welcomed to the Program.
3. All sessions in the Program (fieldwork and workshops) will be held in English.
4. The major travel funding including transportation fee from Kyoto to Yakushima and within
Yakushima, accommodation fee, plus some logistic fee will be provided through the University by
the MEXT fund. You will be requested to commit yourself to all required through this Program.
5. When you completed the Program by engaging in all required activities, a Certificate will be
provided.

How to be Selected Twenty students will be accepted for this call. If the applications exceed
the numbers, we will select the application based on the essay.
We will inform you the selection results by the end of July.

(Note)We had similar questions from some students such as “if the corona situation is getting worse, it will be cancelled?” For this, our response is: ” if we decide we need to change the schedule given the situation and the Guideline, an alternative date will be November 19-23 2020.
